Stanley Planes

To the left here you will see a Picture of my Hand Planes.

I don't know much about them, I'm starting to get a little into Hand tools, I've always Adored Vintage Tools and other Vintage/Antique Items.

Sorry the picture isn't very Clear, it was cold outside and I took these on the fly while I aired up my Wheelchair Tires with my 17g Air Compressor.

From the left to the right, First one is a Stanley #35 which i think is close to a #4 Smoothing Plane, I'm not really Sure, Second one is a Stanley #191 which is my Rabbet Plane, Third Hand Plane, I'm not really Sure what that one is, It's about the Size of the first one so I'm going to guess that it's probably a #4 Smoothing also, and Last but not least, a Stanley #110 Low Angle Block Plane.

If I got any of these incorrect please comment and let me know what Y'all think or know that they are.

I've not really gotten a chance to use these as I don't have a Bench in my Shop just yet. I was toying around with the planes on a Split firewood log to see how they worked and all that jazz, but it was very unstable on my lap so that didn't go very well.

The other day out in the shop, I decided to check to see if the Soul of the planes were flat. Well to my Dismay, they ALL were NOT Flat at all, so I've got alot of work ahead of me to get these bad boys in top notch and ready to use. Hopefully I'll be able to get these in working condition this coming spring. They are in the shop right now and it's not heated and I also don't have what I need to flatten the souls so It will be put off til it starts getting warmer.

Any insight on Resurfacing, Honing, Flatting whatever please leave me a Comment on some Ideas.

Thanks,
Handi

Christmas Card Holder

10" Long by 12" High by 5 1/2" Wide

It took me 6 Hours to cut this Piece out.

It's made out of 1/4" Cherry Plywood.

I used a FD-TC #2/0 Blade from Mike's Workshop.

I found this Pattern/Design on the internet, but it come out of a Scrollsaw Magazine from 2003.

Althou I don't receive that many Christmas Cards, I thought it would make a Great Conversation Piece in my Living room.

Here is a Side and Front View of the Holder.

Cubscouts Popcorn Fundraiser

Fellow Woodworkers,

I know this is totaly off topic for me on my Blog, but my son is in the cubscouts, he is a Webelo. It is their time of the year (Season) for their Fundraiser.

The ONLY Fundraiser the Cubscouts do is Popcorn. So since it's that time of the year, the Scouts are trying something new this year with some Online Sales. And I wanted to provide my Woodworking community an opportunity to overlook this site and purchase some popcorn on behalf of the scouts to provide them with what they need every year.

If you click on the title of this post, it will take you right to the Popcorn Referral Site for the Cubscouts. All orders will help the local Scouts with things they need for rentals on equipment, patches, uniforms and whatever else!

Thanks,
Handi

Craftsmanspace.com - Free woodworking and metalworking DIY (do it yourself) plans and patterns

Everyone,

I've been taking on a few more interest or hobbies, at least reading about them, I've not indulged myself in my new found hobbies just yet, but I've been reading about them. Well reading about it (Chip Carving). I watched a Begining Chip Carving Video over at The Village Carpenter Blog by Kari Hultman as well as a few others.

I was thinking about carving many years ago, but I didn't know what tools or anything I needed, it seemed to get a little overwhelming for me to thing about and all so I kinda disreguarded the idea, I mean I still wanted to do it eventually, but I put it on the back burner.

Of course UNTIL I seen Kari's Beginning Chip Carving Video and the only tool that she used including one other was just a Carvers Knife and a Straight Stabing Knife, and she deminstrated how easy it was to get started and how easy it was to work, so I decide to search the net out for videos and How-To's and whatever else have you.

Along my Journey I come across this website Craftsmanspace.com as you see the link below:
Craftsmanspace.com - Free woodworking and metalworking DIY (do it yourself) plans and patterns in search for Information, Well this site I wanted to Share with anyone who is interested.

This site is Packed full of Old Books it looked like dated from the early 1800's to mid 1900's from Metal working, to Carving, to Scroll Sawing, to Woodworking, to many other things. There are Free Project Plans, Free Books and Free Patterns.

I hope that this site is helpful for anyone that seeks out knowledge upon a few subjects they wish to learn about and get a few helping patterns to help with learning. I know I've got alot to go threw to check out, and a few patterns to try my hands at until I get the idea how to do my own and design them as well.
