Woodworking Tip of The Week - Revolving Finish Station

First I would like to say that I'm sorry for not posting these tips every week. There has been a week or two that I have forgot.

I am a BIG Gamer, as well as Scroll Sawer and getting into Woodworking, and having so many Hobbies and all, you have to Juggle your time here and there.

I have been Stuck on World of Warcraft which i'm sure some of you woodworkers and scrollers out there are familure with or have even heard of the game it's self. And this is what I have been doing, Spending most of my time on World of Warcraft.

Anyway, Here is the Woodworking Tip of the Week.

One of the biggest challenges in a small shop is having room to apply finish to a project. I needed something that wouldn’t take up much room but would still provide easy access to all sides of the project. The station you see here is the solution.

First, the top sits on a lazy Susan. This allows you to rotate the project and apply finish easily on all sides. Second, the hinges allow you to set the station up and tear it down quickly. And third, it can be set up in a corner of my shop out of the way and without taking up a lot of valuable space.
The base consists of two side panels made from 3/4″ plywood and connected by a hinge. Another hinge connects one side panel assembly to the turntable, which is made up of two plywood disks and the lazy Susan (left drawing).

Then you set the station up, swing the two side panels open. The top will rest on the side panels and fit down onto a dowel pin (drawing above right). The dowel acts as a safety catch to lock the station open and adds stability. When you’re done with the station, all you have to do is lift the top up, fold the panels together, and hang it on a wall hook, as you see in the drawing above.

Have a nice weekend,

Shop Time!

Hopefully here real SOON, I will be having some Shop time. The Weather hasn't been permitting me to go outside here lately, as it's been raining A LOT.

Well I suppose that's ok I guess... I've not really got any good wood nor money to purchase any just yet, and if I did I'm not sure what I would accomplish just yet in the shop.

I do however have a Project planed in the near future, I'm a real big Fan of Billiards, others call it Pool, I call it both. Anyway for anyone that is familiar with Billiards or Pool or any form of it knows that a Pool Cue is the most Important piece of equipment, without it you can't play, of course without a table nor Billiard Balls, you aren't able to play as well.

Well for anyone that is familiar, I have a Mali Pool Cue, Blueish Green Marble in color, and my cause I was using... Well I had it in my trunk, and the zipper seized up on me. So with what little Skills that I have in Woodworking and the likes, I will be applying this to build me a New Pool Cue Case, equipped with a Chalk Holder, probably a little quarter area to hold a roll of quarters like a poker table holds poker chips.

I will of course be doing a Podcast on this project to show everyone the process of me applying my woodworking Skills...

Design is still a little flaky, but once it's worked out it will look great, I'm also thinking about doing some Inlay work, which will be my first ever attempt as well. So be looking Forward to a few projects, in the mean time, Please enjoy my Woodworking Tips of the Week from Various people from "Woodworkingtips.com"

Thanks for stopping by and checking my blog out, I should also in the neat future be providing another video and audio podcast. Time and weather hasn't been on my side lately.

Sled - Revisited and Edited!

I have made a noted Mistake on my Video Editing, and as specified below, I have A LOT To learn and work ahead of me, Unfortunately I have accidently muted the first part of this video, There is Audio during the video except for the First 1 Minute and 45 Seconds around about, I Apologize for the Inconvience.

I guess you can't expect EVERYTHING to go right the first time you edit and reedit again lol,
I have been trying my best at some Video Editing. I still have A LOT Of work ahead of me, but I'm getting there.

I have decided to try and give my Sled Video a try at editing, Basically what I have done with this Video since It was originally 1 hour long is Fast forward the points of scrolling and letting the Basic Key Points or Tips that I was discussing Play at Regular Speed.

I have managed to Bring this Particular Video from 1 hour down to 15 minutes that's a Decrease in just a Tad over 45 minutes, I think some will be happy to see the whole thing in 15 minutes instead of a Full hour.

What I did as described above, is I Split some of the video in Different areas throughout the length of the video, then I fast forwarded the sections that didn't have talking in them, This give me the ability to reduce the time, all of the Fast Forwarded sections, I have included Scrolling Text indicating where the fast forward points are at, I could have deleted the split footage this could probably have dropped it down a little more then 15 minutes but I don't know how much more, as they was only a few seconds.

So with all of this Said, Here is the Revisited and Edited Sled Video, I hope it Catches more of a Fancy to the ones that didn't want to sit through the whole 1 hour video, maybe they are willing to check out the 15 Minute Video and listen to some of the caption.

Polar Bear: Part 7

The first thing I would like to say to all of my Viewers and Subscribers, is that I apologize for the length of my videos, I know some of you are probably getting bored Greatly by the excessive length in this Polar Bear Video Series, There are 20 Complete Videos in this Series.

I know they are Long, they are in between 20 minutes to 30 minutes long, I'm inexperienced on how long to make these videos, I've been getting some tips and hints from a few good people that has Video Blogs, and with this in mind, after this polar bear series of videos are all posted, I will be making my Videos shorter for better viewing for my viewers.

My Goal here is to help you understand how we Scrollers Scroll Out our work, How we Demonstrate our Work and how we Teach you how to use Certain Methods of cutting, methods of Inlays, or methods of Stack Cutting.

So with this in mind, I think after the rest of my polar bear Videos are Posted, I'm going to Start with the Basic but Simple Video Cast to give you a Demonstration on now to Prepare your Stock for cutting.

Then I will make a Few more Videos on explaining and giving examples of other stuff, but I'm not going to Tell you everything, I want the Anticipation to arise as you are waiting and reading my Post, so you have a Reason to come back and see what I have to offer.

I'm in high Hopes that my Blog will inspire people to have an interest in such a Craft that many are not aware of!

I think I've said a little too much right now, So here is Video #7, Once again I apologize about the length of these videos, this will soon be corrected as I get used to editing my Videos, and you will see more of my Ugly ole Mug also!
